ABOUT MEL SHAKESPEARE

Mel Shakespeare has been designing and building log homes, post & beam homes and barn residences for over 40 years all across North America.

Mel built his first log house in 1970 after coming upon a farmer about to burn the 24" wide logs from a vintage 1830's log cabin on his farm. Arriving just in time to save the building, Mel embarked on a career that would last decades.

Since that first log house project, Mel has made it his passion to track down, disassemble and rebuild over 70 log buildings of every size and description–sometimes as multiple buildings put together.

A skilled designer, he redesigns each old building, adding all of the modern amenities while respecting the buildings rich pioneer character – it all adds up to some of the most charming and livable residence styles anywhere, cool in the summer, warm in the winter with the natural thermal qualities of solid 8 to 10" thick log!
